James vs. The Sweet Potato Take 2

James vs. The Sweet Potato Take 2

A set of Car Seat Photos

Omigosh, he's getting so big.  Looking at James' chin in comparison to the warning label on the side of the car seat, you can really tell how much he's grown in six months.  Unfortunately, as of his six-month appointment, he has outgrown his infant seat and moved into a convertible car seat.  I guess I'll have to find another way to show how much he's growing!

He's also grown so much that he's spending an extended weekend with Grandma Andy and Grandpa Brad while Mom and Dad celebrate their 2nd Anniversary in MT skiing with friends. I've done 3 days without James, and Patric has done 3-4 days with without James, but we haven't done the 3 days without James TOGETHER.  It's a big milestone, but I'm sure we'll all be fine.  And be "we", I refer to James, Patric, and I.  I guess we'll find out on Monday how Grandma and Grandpa held up :).

James vs. the Sweet Potato & Banana

Let's just say it wasn't very successful.

And neither was uploading the video to this blog, so you'll have to check it out on YouTube:   James vs. the Sweet Potato and Banana

Happy Sixth Month Birthday, James!

James at Six Months:

Height: 27.5" (85%) (Starting to wonder if they sent us home with the right baby, considering we are both kinda short)

Weight: 17 lbs 6 oz (50%)

Head: 44 cm (50%).  Completely controlled. Head less misshapen.  Helmet only at night.

Clothing: 9 months and really in need of some new clothes.  Mom and Dad are going shopping today.

Food: 4 8oz bottles per day; rice cereal until last week when he decided he didn't like it anymore; tried bananas and sweet potatoes this week

Cool Tricks: Can roll over front to back and back to front.  And by "can" I mean "does not stop".  Why crawl when you can log roll everywhere?  Pushing up off belly while lying on stomach with arms.  Sitting unsupported.

Daycare: Going well.  James is going Mon-Wed and this was the end of his second week.  He seems to really enjoy the teachers and his new friends.  He also learns a ton while at school, whether it's reaching for toys or finding out he has toes.  His immune system is also learning to combat evil germs - he caught a pretty major cold his first week.

Forgive my red nose, I have a cold!

I can sit

I'm trying to crawl

I can smile

And strike a pose!

Mom, I think I've outgrown my car seat!

I think James has outgrown his infant car seat, and just in time for his six month birthday!  The specs say up to 30 inches or 30 pounds, and I think he's around 27 inches and 18 pounds, but he's kicking the seat and his shoulders are pretty darn squished, so I say it's time for a new car seat.  Maybe Dad will install his new one in my car this weekend?

Some Pics from Christmas-ish Time

I graduated! Finally!

Happy Graduation to me!
I actually "Graduated" last August from William Mitchell College of Law, but had the choice of walking in the May 2011 or January 2012 ceremony.  I had almost forgotten about the whole ordeal, but Patric reminded me in November that I had to order my cap and gown and fill out the paperwork to walk.  Grandpa James and Grandma Theresa came up for the event, and James was almost a perfect angel for the whole ceremony.  (He may have projectile vomited all over Patric's pant leg while our Dean gave the closing address).  In the end, I was glad to participate in the ceremony - the cap and gown was WAY more interesting than my undergraduate attire, two of my professors "hooded" me during the ceremony, and Grandpa James and Grandma Theresa took us out for a McCormick & Schmick's seafood dinner afterwards.

A little background on the attire -
Three Bars on Sleeves = Doctoral Degree
Purple = Law (field of study)
Red/Black in the Hood = William Mitchell's school colors
